This strollercise class in Edmonton is designed to get your heart pumping and muscles burning while you enjoy the outdoors with your baby or children! We don’t run with the strollers, but do a variety of cardiovascular activities to get our heart rates elevated.   We also do resistance training, core stability and pelvic floor exercises that are specific to postnatal women.   Come and meet other like – minded moms in your community!

Exercises are shown with different intensities so you can get the most out of your own workout!

Our postnatal fitness classes are taught by a certified and qualified instructor who has their BSc. Kinesiology,
CSEP – Certified Exercise Physiologist and is a Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist.

 

 

All fitness levels are welcome!

YOUR CHILD or CHILDREN are WELCOME in class! There is lots of room for the little ones to run around while you workout!

 

**Please do not bring an umbrella stroller to use for this class **

**Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle to each class**

** Class will be cancelled if there are poor weather conditions.  Classes are non – refundable due to being cancelled by weather**

 

BENEFITS OF TAKING A CLASS BIWEEKLY

Some exercise is better than no exercise, but more is generally better. Improving your overall health, decreasing the risk of heart disease and other health problems, improving your sex life, boosting your energy, reducing stress and losing weight are just to name a few of the benefits of exercising and eating healthy. It is recommended for adults to exercise at least 150 minutes at a moderate- to- vigorous intensity of aerobic physical activity per week and to include resistance training at least 2 times per week. www.csep.ca/guidelines

In order for you to achieve your fitness and wellness goals and gain health benefits, you need to stay physically active and eat properly. If you are currently sedentary, it’s not too late to get active and start an activity that you enjoy! By signing up in a fitness class at least 2 times a week, you will create a routine, be held more accountable, be more motivated, and you will see results a lot sooner. It’s time to invest in your health and register in a class at Momentum Health & Wellness! Please consult with your health care provider before you start a new exercise program.

POSTNATAL FITNESS CONSIDERATIONS

  • Consult your health care provider before you participate in a postnatal exercise program. When you start back into an exercise program, start back at an intensity that both you and your health care provider feel is appropriate for you.
  • Staying hydrated – especially if you are breast feeding
  • Knowing your limits.
  • Wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing to help regulate your body temperate while you workout
  • Wear comfortable and appropriate exercise footwear

This FREE prenatal class is for moms – to – be who are 35 + weeks pregnant, who may not want to participant in an exercise class, but want to keep active until baby comes.  Join us for this relaxing prenatal class that focuses on stretching, breathing and relaxing.

** Assessment at the beginning and end of each session (body composition and a basic fitness assessment)

**You will learn a variety of nutrition and wellness topics that will inspire and encourage you on this journey to a better you.

**A private Facebook group is set up to keep you accountable during the course.

** Weekly health and wellness challenges to help you achieve your personal goals.

** Weekly workouts taught by a Certified Exercise Physiologist

** Home workout plan is designed to keep you moving on the days you are not in Fitcamp

** Sample nutrition plan designed to educate you on how to eat more nutrition dense foods without eliminating food groups or drinking expensive meal replacements

The countdown is on until the baby arrives and the excitement and tension are building. Our prenatal fitness classes focus on strength training, light cardiovascular , core stabilization, pelvic floor exercises and relaxation breathing to help you mentally and physically prepare yourself for labour and post-baby. The classes are taught by certified and qualified trainers who have their University degree, are Certified Exercise Physiologists and Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialists.

Pregnancy education will occur during each class. Topics such as nutrition, sleep, hormone changes, and proper exercises for pregnancy will be discussed! These classes are educational and a great way to meet other mamas to be!!

 

** Modifications are given for each exercise based on the participant’s fitness and comfort level **

CLASS STARTS: September 3rd, 2019

 

Welcome to a new moms group in Edmonton! This class is a combination of a postnatal exercise class and an education session on all topics relating to motherhood and babies!  Come and meet other like – minded moms who care about their health in your community! Class sizes are SMALL so you and your baby don’t feel overwhelmed joining a new mom’s class!

 

EXERCISE CLASS:

This postnatal fitness class is a combination of exercise and education for new moms! It is designed for new moms who want to return to an exercise setting, but are not ready for a higher intensity class. Whether you had a C- section, vaginal birth, experiencing incontinence or have diastasis recti, this class will educate you on proper exercises to help you recover post – baby.  This lower intensity exercise class includes postnatal specific resistance training, light cardio, core stability and pelvic floor exercises.

Class sizes are small so moms and babies are not overwhelmed with noise and for the instructor to build a rapport with each client and help them achieve their wellness goals.

**Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle to each class**

 

YOU CAN WORKOUT AND BRING YOUR BABY WITH YOU!  NO NEED TO PUT YOUR CHILD IN DAYCARE WHILE YOU WORKOUT!!

 

The exercise class is 30 mins followed by a 30 minute education class

 

EDUCATION CLASS:

The purpose of the education sessions is to allow moms to ask questions and educate themselves on a variety of topics relating to motherhood and baby. Topics include: bottle feeding, breast feeding, incontinence, diastasis recti, sleep, postpartum depression, postnatal fitness, baby development and more.  We are just a group of moms supporting other moms on our motherhood journey! Let’s build a supportive community of strong and healthy moms!

The pressures and stress in our fast-paced, highly digital world can rob children of their innate peace and joy. Kids Momentum and Motivation can help counter these pressures and enhance the health and well-being of children. This class is a combination of movement and mindfulness for kids where we will use music, games and breathing exercises to teach the children about strength, balance, gratitude, happiness and respect for themselves and others.

This class is in a fun, supportive and nurturing environment where we encourage kids to get their energy out through physical activity and then finish each class off with a variety of self – calming strategies that the children can practice daily.

We keep our classes SMALL (max 6 children) so each child receives the attention they deserve.
